Od Starog placa do vrha Europe

Zlatom optočena splitska košarka slavi ove 2015. godine veliki jubilej – svoj sedamdeseti rođendan! Od davne 1945. godine kada je sportski Split prvi put vidio jednu košarkašku utakmicu igračica Fizkulturnog društva Hajduk do današnjih dana splitski košarkaški klub – pod imenima Hajduk, Split, Jugoplastika, Pop 84, Slobodna Dalmacija i Croatia osiguranje – ispisao je bogatu povijest koja ga je s pravom svrstala u red europskih i svjetskih košarkaških giganata.

Split na zemljopisnoj karti nema neko značajno mjesto, ali da se kojim slučajem crta košarkaška karta svijeta, Split bi zasigurno bio europski i svjetski košarkaški velegrad. I to s pravom! Jer, u Splitu je iznjedren veliki broj vrhunskih košarkaša, reprezentativaca Jugoslavije i Hrvatske, osvajača medalja s Olimpijskih igara, Svjetskih i Europskih prvenstava. Barem desetak njih s pravom nose epitet europskih i svjetskih košarkaških superveličina. Split se radovao osvajanjima naslova državnih prvaka, osvajanjima domaćega Kupa, splitski košarkaši dvaput su osvojili Kup Radivoja Koraća, ali ipak najveće radosti bila su osvajanja tri naslova klupskog prvaka Europe – 1989., 1990., 1991. godine.!

Tri godine zaredom Split je bio europsko košarkaško središte broj jedan, tri godine zaredom europska klupska košarka bila je podvučena žutom bojom europskih prvaka s košarkaške tvrđave na splitskim Gripama. Cijela Europa tad se divila splitskom košarkaškom klubu koji je u nekim anketama na kraju 20. stoljeća proglašen – najboljim europskim klubom svih vremena! Takvo priznanje u konkurenciji velikih europskih košarkaških giganata kao što su Real iz Madrida, CSKA iz Moskve, Ignis iz Varesea, Maccabi iz Tel Aviva i još nekih velikih euroklubova svakako je najveće moguće priznanje splitskoj košarci i gradu Splitu, najsportskijem gradu na svijetu.

The golden basketball club rom Split is celebrating a great jubilee in 2015 – its seventieth birthday! Ever since the distant 1945, when the sport fans in Split for the first time watched a basketball game with female basketball players of the Sports Society Hajduk, until this day, the basketball club from Split – under the names: Hajduk, Split, Jugoplastika, Pop 84, Slobodna Dalmacija and Croatia Osiguranje – has recorded a rich history, which has placed it among the European and the world`s basketball giants. Split does not have an important place on the world map, but in case the basketball world map would be drawn, Split would surely be the European and the world metropolis, and deservedly!

For Split has raised a large numbers of first – rate basketball players, members of the basketball teams of Yugoslavia and Croatia, medal winners on the Olympic Games, European and World championships. At least ten of them deservedly carry the titles of European and World basketball leading figures. Split has rejoiced in winning the titles of Croatian Champion, winning the State Cup, and the Split basketball players have twice won the Cup of Radivoj Korać, but after all, the most important were the three titles of the European Club Champions – 1989., 1990., 1991. Three years in line, Split was a top – basketball centre, and three years in line, the club basketball was underlined with yellow colour of the European champions from the basketball fortress on Gripe.

The whole Europe admired the Split`s basketball club, which was according to some surveys, pronounced the best European basketball club of all times! Such an acknowledgement among the competition of the great world basketball giants, as Real Madrid, CSKA from Moscow, Ignis from Varese, Maccabi from Tel Aviv and other great European clubs, is surely the biggest possible acknowledgement to Split`s basketball and the city of Split, the sportiest city in the world.
